My name is Randy Norrie.  My wife and I farm near Donavan, Sask.  I also work as a mechanic for Orchard Transport at Delisle, Sask.  I’ve been a friend and neighbor of Cody Robbins’ for years and we share a huge interest in hunting!

Farming makes for a fairly busy schedule, so I really appreciate the time I get to hunt and fish!  I shot my first whitetail buck with a 30-30 lever when I was 15 years old.  It was a 4×4 that scored 134 B&C.  I still think its the best gun around for 100 yards and under.  I was 24 years old when I shot my first bear and 50 yards with a 44 mag. lever gun.  I got four shots into him before he went twenty yards.  I love lever guns in the bush!  Ruger No. 1 in 45-70 for moose; excellent!

My hunting and fishing time stays the same most years.  When I’m away, my wife holds down the farm, and thanks to cell phones, she can reach me if needed.  Winter brings a couple of good ice fishing trips.  Spring bear is a must after the adrenaline rush from an archery hunt last year!  Summer has one good fishing trip in June.  Fall is a week in moose camp in northern Sask, then back home for whitetail and mule deer in October.  My pasture includes 2200 acres of bush and grass.

My favorite hobby is getting to know the local wildlife.  There is a good mix of Whitetails and Mule Deer on our land.  I use trail camera’s for eight months of the year.  I get about 2000 pictures per week and review them on a laptop every Saturday.  Collecting shed horns is a huge rush,  matching sets with pictures of bucks as they grow each year.  The trail cameras are invaluable in helping me know the deer and their history, and to select the buck I want to hunt each season.  I also get pictures of porcupines, rabbits, coyotes, birds and occasionally other animals passing through!

I love where I live!!!
